People who are new to The UAE, weekends are FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS. Sunday is the 1st working day, here in UAE. So if you want to meet & greet the fancy locals, Expats or excited tourist crowd, Thursday evenings, & Fridays are highly popular.

The 1st place, if you ask anyone here in Dubai, “which place would you recommend for a couple of beers food, maybe some music or sports bar”?? Answer “Have you been to Irish Village yet? Well to be honest Irish village is one of the most popular Irish bars in town. In here you do not have to worry about how to dress up? what to wear? It is a place for CASUAL DINING & PUB. The Large garden & The Homely feel makes THE IRISH VILLAGE a low-key favourite among the hordes of expat. It truly is a small PIECE OF IRELAND in the heart of Dubai. It Hosts most popular events like Halloween, Thanks Giving, Christmas, Foot Ball, St. Patricks Day & many more. One of the other good things about Irish village is that it is next to Century Village. Century Village, like the name explains, is a small village of restaurants, bars & sheesha cafes. There are cuisines from all around the world. Indian, American, Italian, Lebanese, Japanese etc. Century Village also plays LIVE BAND LIKE IRISH VILLAGE. Below is the picture of me in Irish during the late hours.


  • FOOD/DRINKS: People do prefer their beers, fish & chips, Burgers. And obviously during special occasions their special menu options eg: Turkey for Thanksgiving.

2.      STABLES:

Another very popular pub amongst the expats of Dubai. It is a sports bar. Great place for groups or even if you’re alone, as you are sure to make friends in there. Stables like Irish Village, hosts some events too, mostly sports. Their happy hour is from 4PM-8PM every day. TUESDAYS are their Buy 1 get one free night. Ladies get ready to get some free drinks on Wednesday nights. Stables is also super popular for their Karaoke. So if you sing get ready to showcase some good performance. This bar also joins 2 popular pubs RODEO DRIVE & FIBBER MAGEE’s

  • LOCATION: Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Centre Area.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Popular for its Buffalo wings, sweet potato fries, Beers & cocktails.

There are 3 branches of Belgian Beer Cafes in Dubai. It is more like an older style Bistro. as the name suggests Belgian Beer Cafe has a great selection of Tap Beers. This place is perfect in the evenings as the Belgian beer cafe in Dubai Festival city has a good view of the Dubai skyline. Their HAPPY HOURs are on every Sundays & Mondays from 6PM-7PM.   • LOCATION: Madinat Jumeirah, Tecome & Dubai Festival City.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Obviously great brews, Belgian Fries, mussels, Belgian Beef stakes & ribs.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2:  350 – 400 AED (95-110 USD)

Like Belgian Beer cafe there 4 branches of McGettians in Dubai. It’s an Irish Pub. Like Irish Village, this is a spot for all occasions. It is a sports bar. There’s live music, a pool table for pool lovers. Certain Branches have a HAPPY HOUR MENU, from 2-7PM. McGettigans also have promotions on food & Drinks on various occasions. There are outdoor seatings. Ladies Monday is your night here.

  • LOCATION: Dubai World Trade Center. (DWTC). Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai International Airport.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Good For Beers & Cocktails. French fries, Signature Burgers, Fish & Chips.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2: Approximately 300-350 AED (65-90 USD)
  • DRESS CODE: Casuals.


Bollywood Lovers, this place is totally for you. This place is new in Dubai. But ever since it has launched it has gained its popularity. Bar Baar has Live music & performance. It is a great place to hang out. It is an Indian Themed Bar. Bar Baar has great deals on drinks on TUESDAYS, certain drinks are for 10AED  7PM- 3AM. There is a pool table.   • LOCATION: Majestic Hotel Tower Bur Dubai.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Cocktails. Their Nukkad Sandwich, Baida Roti, Potato chat are definitely worth a try.
  •  AVERAGE COST for 2: Approximately 300-400 AED (85-100 USD) inclusive drinks.
  •  DRESS CODE: Smart Casuals.


Trader Vics is a Polynesian themed bar. In here you get a feeling of being on an island. There 3 branches of Trader Vics in Dubai. Trader Vics is extremely popular with their cocktails. They have an ecstatic cocktail selection. their food menu is extremely lavish & cosmopolitan. They play live music. It is a wonderful place to relax & unwind. Trader Vics at Sheikh Zayed road has a couple of more restaurants & bars around. There’s Waga Mama Japanese Cuisine, There is a fine Dine Brazilian restaurant Chamas, There are a couple of DISCO TECHs in crown plaza ZINC & SENSATIONS.  etc. They are all in Sheik Zayed Crown Plaza Hotel. The Terrace for the Trader Vics on the JBR views the Ain Dubai. Happy Hour is from 5PM-8PM.

  • LOCATION: Sheikh Zayed Crown Plaza hotel, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Walk.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Trader Vics is home to Mai Tai & all rum-based cocktails. Their ASIAN menu & seafood options are delicious.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2: Approximately 450-500 AED ( 100-130 USD) drinks inclusive.
  • DRESS CODE: easy to casual. Below is the picture of Sensations one of the disco techs in Crown Plaza. The one with the green sofa chairs is trader Vic JBR.


This is an easy Australian sports bar. They have outdoor seatings. It is in Palm Jumeirah. For the location, this place is reasonably priced. There are wooden bench tables which gives one a feeling of watching a match in a stadium. Bidi Bondi does host some games occasionally.

  • LOCATION: Palm Jumeirah.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Beers, good wine selection, They do good soup/salad of the day. Burgers & chicken wings.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2: Approximately 200-250 AED ( 50-65 USD)
  • DRESS CODE: Easy to Casual.


Extremely popular amongst the locals, expats, & tourist. This place is an ideal beach bar. It has a huge place on the beach. Very popular on THURSDAYS. Barasti has a very good view of the skyline in the night & the Atlantis hotel. It is free entry. Live Music, Great place to enjoy an easy beach party. There is a huge dance floor on the beach. They do have TVs for matches. Barasti also offers sheeshas.IMG_0073


  • LOCATION: Le Meridian Mina Seyahi Beach.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Mainly drinks like beers & good mojitos if they have a mojito counter setup. Finger Food is good.
  • AVERAGE COST: Really Depends on how much one spends on drinks. Approximately 35-40 AED for a beer. 
  • DRESS CODE: Casuals.


This place feels like more of the after-office crowd. People are dressed in blazers & suits. Very busy in the evenings. Requires table bookings if you plan to sit & eat. You can always go there for just drinks have they have a decent size outdoor area. Wednesday night is for Ladies. Unlimited wine until 11PM. To be honest, never had a chance to enjoy their food menu but I have tried their Mushroom pizza & that was good. They are also popular for their weekend brunches.

  • LOCATION: JBR the walk.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Wines. I have heard their, Lobster Roll, Spicy Shrimp are quite popular.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2: 300-400 AED (85-100 USD).
  • DRESS CODE: Smart Casuals.

10. ONEO:

This restaurant is one of my favourites. And I am pretty sure it will be yours too if you are a wine & cheese lover like me. This place hosts UNLIMITED WINE & CHEESE night on WEDNESDAYS. They open a total of 50 red, white & sparkling wines. They have a very good cheese & bread buffet that compliments the wines. You could taste, drink or call for the bottle of wine that you like for just 190AED/person. Didn’t I tell you, you would love this place if you are a wine & cheese lover?   • LOCATION: Westin Mina Seyahi Hotel.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Wednesday Wine & Cheese Night. (is all I have tried & is my personal favourite.)
  • AVERAGE COST: For Wednesday WINE & CHEESE 190 AED/Person. ( 50 USD).
  • DRESS CODE: Smart Casuals.11. PIER 7:

If you are one of those who likes bar hoping then this place is for you. This place is located on the harbourside. That means it has stunning views of the harbour, the skyline. There are in total of 7 outlets to choose from. My personal favourite is CARGOs. Cargos offer beautiful indoor & stunning outdoor seating. Good Music. Versatile menu.   • LOCATION: Pier 7 behind Dubai Marina Mall. Cargo is on the 3rd floor.
  • FOOD/DRINKS: Espresso martinis are awesome. Chicken satay, Singaporean noodles, spring rolls.
  • AVERAGE COST for 2: Approximately 350-400 AED. (85-100 USD).
  • DRESS CODE: Smart Casuals.

All of the above places have plenty of parking spots. Remember there is zero tolerance for DRINK & DRIVE. If you are planning to drink which I suggest you should, if you are planning to visit one of the above places then YOU MUST TAKE a taxi. If you are just going to enjoy the food & soak in the COSMOPOLITAN DUBAI then parking is FREE ON Fridays & from 10PM-7AM every night.

The above is not limited to the CASUAL MUSIC, NIGHTLIFE & PUBS IN DUBAI. There are many more that I have yet to discover. With Dubai growing every day it is hard to keep up. But so far the above are my favourites & definitely will be all-time popular amongst the locals, expats & tourists, for the reasons best known to them.
